Finding Bigfoot

Alrighty folks I must chime in on the Finding Bigfoot subject. I really try to keep this blog out of the Bigfoot political realm. But after seeing Facebook post after Facebook post talking about the show and the cast, and a majority of these people wanting to change the name to Not-Finding Bigfoot, I must give my opinion.

First things first, we must all remember that this is a TV show! TV shows are driven by ratings and thus money from advertisers. The producers want to entertain you the viewer and they design the show to do just that. The cast is most likely working under certain parameters that prohibit their normal Squatchin procedures and methods. Basically the cast is handcuffed by these parameters and the chances of them "Finding" Bigfoot is slim to none. I would love to know how many video and sound techs, producers, directors, etc accompany each of the cast when they are out searching the woods for a Bigfoot. This alone would be enough to prohibit any Squatcher from fulfilling their goal of actually finding a Bigfoot!

Another problem they face is the time constraints. They are only at a specific location for certain amount of time. In this limited amount of time they need to work on the logistics of their hunt. This could mean getting permission from landowners if needed, any permits for being on Federal or State Game Lands, and any other incidentals as far as where they are going to look for Bigfoot. Also they must coordinate the transportation of the whole crew not just the 4 cast members. Lining up four wheelers, horses, helicopter's, etc takes time and a great deal of planning. They also need to schedule and have the town hall meeting. The cast doesn't necessarily do all of these tasks, but as you can see it does effect their time in the woods.

So the fact that they can't find a Bigfoot should not be a reflection of the casts' Squatchin proficiency or professionalism. I know that each of them are avid outdoorsman, hikers, and most of all top notch Squatchers. If you had read my first blog post, "A Squatcher is Born," you would have read that Matt Moneymaker has been to my area several times. I did not have a chance to Squatch with Matt but my friends did and they had nothing but positive things to say about his woodsmanship and professionalism. He was here to find a Squatch and he was highly motivated to do so. He didn't need or have any camera crew following him around to do that. Does Matt come off as an arrogant SOB sometimes?? Hell yes he does, but that shouldn't diminish what he has done in this field for the past 25 years.

A few months after Matt's initial visit to the area, he brought Cliff with him. They spent five days here I believe, and they Squatched their butts off! They personally set camera traps all over the area and they hiked countless miles during that visit. Again, their only motivation was to document a Bigfoot. No TV crew, no fan fare, just two down to earth Squatchers.

You can read all about Cliff's visit here http://squatchinluver.blogspot.com/2014/03/north-american-bigfoot-bigfooting-in.html

I have heard from a bunch of people that Cliff is an extremely nice guy. My friends spent a couple days Squatchin with Cliff when he was here and had nothing but great things to say about him. I think everyone and their brother can tell what kind of guy Bobo is! I am not a huge fan of Renee only for the fact that she dismisses EVERY eye witness account. I don't think that is fair to the witnesses that have had an obvious encounter with a Bigfoot. I respect her for some of her skepticism though and she is a hardcore outdoorsman.

These guys have been doing this long before it became "cool" to do so. They have logged endless hours and miles doing what they love to do. I find it extremely insulting to tear them apart because of what you see on TV. Again, I am NOT saying that you have to personally like any of them. But for people to sit behind their computer screen and make fun of them because they haven't found Bigfoot is wrong. I am personally a little jealous that they get paid to do what I would love to do! Happy Squatchin....

BFRO Report 42051: Deer hunter scouting with his family encounters two Bigfoots near Houtzdale

BFRO Report 42051: Deer hunter scouting with his family encounters two Bigfoots near Houtzdale

What a wonderfully detailed sighting report from the Clearfield area close to where I grew up in Central  Pennsylvania. I find the story very believable and that area is very well known for Bigfoot type encounters. Great read!

BFRO Report 4117: Sasquatch moves out of a squat position to a run when hit by vehicle head lights

BFRO Report 4117: Sasquatch moves out of a squat position to a run when hit by vehicle head lights

When I was in my early twenties I lived in the little College town of Indiana Pennsylvania. I had just started bow hunting and I had no place to go since I was new to the area. I eventually met a few guys that had some local connections that had a place to hunt and they invited me to go. It was awesome hunting and the deer, turkey, and grouse were plentiful. This particular night one friend and myself head out for an evening hunt. The property was old reclaimed strip mines that sat on the outskirts of town off of Rt 286. The plan was to walk together for a few hundred yards and then go in opposite directions to our chosen stand sites. At the end of our hunt, we would meet at the same spot and walk out together.

It was a very windy evening and there wasn't much in the way of deer movement. A front seemed to be moving in and the sky was darkening. As I sat patiently waiting for a deer to appear I hear this blood curdling, high pitched scream that can only be described as a woman being stabbed to death. It scared the living heck out me and because of the wind I couldn't tell the direction of the scream. But it was definitely inside of 100 yards and I was petrified. All of the sudden I see a deer come flying past my perch with total unbridled fear in its eyes. What the heck made that noise and where in the heck is it?

The sky was darkening by the minute and I usually make a habit of staying in my stand till well after dark to lessen the likely hood of spooking deer, but NOT tonight!I started down the ladder, knees wobbling from fear. I hit the ground and turn at the sound of stick crack to see my hunting partner 15 yards and closing. I already knew by the look at his face that he heard it too. "What the frick was that??" were his words (the G rated version). I said that I had no clue and that we should get moving because of the dark. On the ride back to town we tried every rational explanation as to what made that scream. Everything from a deer to a porcupine and everything in between. Nothing made sense to us and eventually after several weeks we quit worrying about it.

Fast forward to 2011 when I started getting back into the Bigfoot realm. I had just found the BFRO data base and I was in heaven. I browsed every report I could and was fascinated with all of the first hand accounts by eye witnesses. I have to admit that eye witnesses are the biggest reason for my unwavering belief in Sasquatch. I am of the opinion that not every person is lying so that leaves a large percentage of witnesses that are telling the truth about seeing a Bigfoot. But anyway, I was browsing the Pennsylvania sighting reports and I started with the county I currently live in, then I browsed the county that I grew up in, and then I noticed Indiana county. I clicked on the BFRO Report 4117 and read the eye witness account and realized it was the same location that I used to hunt in. I almost fell over in shock. Could that of been a Bigfoot that made that scream or is this just a huge coincidence???

Please if anyone has any suggestions as to what they think might of made that scream. I am all ears! This blog is for openly discussing Bigfoot and I encourage dialogue. If there is a rational explanation I would  love to hear it.
